Military Appreciation Days

Join us for Military Appreciation Days, May 28-31, 2010, in the City of Myrtle Beach!  We are celebrating active duty military personnel, veterans and reserves from all branches of the service with a full slate of events.  Stay tuned to this site for additional details about concerts, activities, military discounts, the big parade, performers and much more.  We thank you for your service to our nation!

Tentative Schedule of Events

Friday, May 28

  • Welcome Address – 5:00 p.m., Mayor John Rhodes, Grand Park Stage
  • Giant Flag on Display – Beginning at 5:00 p.m.
  • Parents Night Out for Military Families – 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., Pepper Geddings Recreation Center
  • Festive Brass Band – 7:30 p.m., Grand Park Stage

 

Saturday, May 29

  • Buzz Aldrin Recognition Ceremony – 9:00 a.m., Ocean Boulevard, between Eighth and Ninth Avenue North.
  • 5K Run/Walk – 8:00 a.m., Crabtree Gym (wheelchair race starts at 7:45 a.m.) 

Click for the route map and additional details and the registration form.  Enjoy this morning run/walk around The Market Common and Grand Park!  The event starts at Crabtree Memorial Gymnasium.  It’s free for active duty, reserves and veterans and just $20 for civilians.
